More than what happens within the four walls, more than a social gathering, more than a group of religious people, more than just friendly people, we are the church.

Being the church is who we are.  It defines our identity, our purpose, our goals, our values, our treasure.  It is so important that we tell each other to “Be the church,” every Sunday.

As God’s church, then we strive, however imperfectly, to be a people who are ever making progress in these indispensable facets of being the church.

1) Exalting Christ, 2) Abiding in God’s Word, and 3) Cultivating Gospel Communities

Exalting Christ

In the beginning God created all things. He created all things through God the Son so that Jesus Christ might in all things have the first place. To the end that, one day, every knee will bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God the Father. This eternal purpose and plan of God to exalt Christ is and should be the joy-filled desire and pursuit of all those who call upon the name of the Lord Jesus. We as God’s church at Aiea Heights Church endeavor to love and live out that Christ is the best, weightiest, most important, most valuable and treasured thing about us.

Abiding in The Word

In the beginning, God spoke and all of the created universe came into being. Though God has revealed reflections of Himself and His glory through what has been created, He has specially revealed Himself through His God-given Word, the Bible. The Bible is God’s inerrant, inspired, and infallible Word to His people. The 66 books of the Old and New Testament of the Bible are God-breathed (2 Tim 3:16-17), able to make us wise unto salvation, and are the means by which the Lord Jesus prays to the Father that we might be sanctified when He prayed “Sanctify them in the truth; Your Word is truth.” Therefore, we as God’s church seek to abide in God’s Word, to have the Word of Christ dwell in us richly, and to have all of what we do, say, and think grounded in and relying upon and responding rightly to God’s Word. We aim to be hearers and doers of God’s Word not just hearers only. We want to dwell on His Word, meditate on His promises, and feast upon His truth, enjoying the sweetness of His commandments. Through His written Word we want to know and love Jesus Christ, the Living Word all the more.

Cultivating Gospel Community

God, for His glory and because of His great love, saves sinners from wrath and judgement. God not only saves sinners from hell but He saves them into His family, into the body of Christ, into church. Because He saves people who are many members into one family, one body, one church, God’s purpose is for all believers to lovingly invest in other people’s lives so that they would know and love Christ, especially those in the church. This is the great call of discipleship that the Lord Jesus began with the 11 disciples when He commanded them to make disciples who will be disciple-makers themselves. We, at Aiea Heights Church, soberly and joyfully join in the great line of disciple-makers and purpose to be those who cultivate discipleship relationships, Gospel communities, which will cultivate more Gospel communities. Our desire is that, through one Gospel community at a time, as many people as possible would passionately love and sing the praises of our glorious King until every knee shall bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God the Father.
